WoW! Walking On Water

Radically trusting God despite your circumstances.

Walking on water means radically trusting God with every aspect of your life. That’s where I am right now after being kicked out of a car on a busy road in the heat of the afternoon in Phoenix. For the second time in my life it’s the confirmation that my prayer is being answered. That prayer was “Help me radically trust You.”

I calmly walked down the sidewalk in the heat. Stunned for sure, I felt peace envelope me as I headed to the nearest shade which happened to be under a tree adjacent to the water feature at Unity Church of Phoenix.

You might recall that Peter tried walking on water and then started sinking when he focused on the stormy waves. It’s hugely significant that Jesus was walking on water during a storm. The circumstances are perilous, tossing doubts with every wave smashing into one’s sense of self, security, and what one knows to be true.

It’s not that I deserved to be kicked out of a car, it’s that it told me that I’m not living up to my purpose which requires radical trust to focus on daily exercising my talents instead of focusing on my circumstances. Every day since then I start my day reminding myself to act according to my purpose, focus my energies on what needs to be done, and let God take care of the rest.

Sounds easy on paper, right? But if you knew what I’ve had to overcome to just get to this point, you might perceive that adversity and challenges are what cause us to grow.

I was born to speak encouragement. I’ve done it my whole life by sharing some of the challenges I face. Everyone needs encouragement to let go and let God. Even Jesus did when he was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. The gifts of God are irrevocable. No matter what challenges you face, God will never forsake you. But God expects each of us to be present to help our fellow human beings wherever we are and whoever we come in contact with every day.
